10 wedding details brides often forget
Feel like you're forgetting a part of your wedding planning? We have you covered!
1. Make sure you have an itinerary for getting ready.
To keep the morning of your big day from getting chaotic, make sure you have an itinerary ready beforehand. Let the bridesmaids and groomsmen know when they need to get there, schedule when you should start your hair and make up, and make sure everyone will be ready before the ceremony starts. It will help you, your bridal party, family and your vendors all stay on the same page by having a schedule at the ready.
2. Get flowers for the parents and grandparents.
While it's easy to remember florals for your bridal party, the parents and grandparents often get overlooked. Make sure you have boutonnieres and corsages ready for the parents and grandparents of both the bride and groom!
3. Schedule trial runs for your hair and makeup.
It's important for you to feel beautiful on your wedding day! Make sure you schedule trial runs with your hair stylist and makeup artist beforehand so that you have your dream look picked out and ready before your big day.
4. Don't forget about your pets!
Planning on having your pets in your wedding? Make sure they're ready to walk down the aisle in their best attire! Consider getting your fur babies a floral collar or mini boutonniere so they can look their best too.
Planning on keeping your pets at home? Book a stay at a pet hotel so you can be sure they are looked after during your wedding day and honeymoon!
5. Prepare ahead of time for your first dance.
Are you going to have a dance routine or will you keep it simple with a slow dance? Decide and practice with your partner before the big day ,so you can fully enjoy your first dance together with none of the stress. Are you also scared no one will get on the dance floor when the DJ starts playing? Ask your guests to circle around you to watch your first dance and then have the DJ play an upbeat song directly after. Guests are more likely to start dancing if they are already on the dance floor!
Bonus tip: If you have a dress with a train, find the hook to hold your train or make sure you pin it up before you start dancing!
6. Have a schedule ready for your reception.
Your rehearsal dinner is the perfect time to schedule and practice your wedding ceremony, but the reception activities can easily be overlooked. Make sure you have a schedule ready for the reception too, so you will know exactly when to cut the cake, have your first dance, toss the garter and then hit then dance floor!
7. Create a wedding day emergency kit.
When it comes to your wedding day you should always expect the best, but still plan for mishaps. Broken strap on a dress? Have a mini sewing kit at the ready. Headache on the morning of your big day? Pack some aspirin. Is your phone almost dead but you haven't taken any pictures? Grab a charger. Think of little hiccups that could happen and make an emergency kit full of your essentials to take with you to your venue!
8. Talk details with your vendors.
Once you get your vendors booked, it can feel like you already have everything done, but you should make sure to touch base with each of them before your wedding day! Meet with your photographer to create a list of photos you know you want taken. Meet with your DJ to discuss what songs you want, and don't want, played on your big day. Meet with your caterer to discuss allergies you or your guests might have.
9. Make sure to get (and bring) your marriage license.
Don't forget to make your wedding legal! Stop by your local county clerk's office a couple weeks before your wedding to get your marriage license, and don't forget to bring it with you on the day of your wedding.
10. HAVE FUN
We end this list with the most important tip of all: have fun! It's easy to stress over all the little details of wedding planning, but at the end of the day your wedding is all about you, your soon to be spouse and celebrating the love you share. Enjoy your wedding day and the time you will get to spend with the person you love most.
